"There have been many times in the past that various singers have had a go at an attempt to ‘honour’ Billie Holiday… One thing that was missing from a lot of those attempts was the quality of the backing band, some using orchestras or trios, but all with too little effect.

Billie Holiday… [had] the ability, not unlike Louis Armstrong, to use her voice like an instrument, and like all great jazz musicians, her timing was perfect, and she swings. She also had some great musicians backing her throughout her career.
